Sophie And Lucy With David Tennant With Their Designs (1)

The competition invited primary pupils from across Scotland to design a rosette that stood out from the crowd and secondary pupils to design a unique milk bottle brand to align with this year’s Show theme of Education and Learning and RHET’s Year of Dairy. 132 rosette designs and 47 milk bottle designs were entered.

Rosette Winner

Sophie’s winning rosette was picked by the judges due to its bold colour selection of blue, green, orange, pink and yellow and for closely following the brief of including the required features asked for. Her rosette was produced by Hazelden Rosettes and was presented to the Dairy Champion from each section of the dairy classes at the weekend’s event.

Milk Bottle Winner

Lucy’s winning milk bottle design, which features a cow as part of her ‘Milk Magic’ and ‘Udderly Delicious’ branding, was printed on a one litre glass bottle by Seaways Services (UK) Ltd, which provides a range of resources to the dairy sector, and was showcased at the Scottish Milk Championships during the Show.

Both Sophie and Lucy received free tickets to the Show on Sunday 22nd June for their family and friends, as well as keepsakes of their designs.  The top ten shortlisted design entries from both competitions were also showcased across the four-day event.

Sophie Deas, who is in primary seven at The Community School of Auchterarder, said: “I love drawing and colouring in and wanted to design something that was simple, bright and eye-catching for the winners of this year’s Show! I’m over the moon that my design has been selected and thoroughly enjoyed going to the Show with my family!”

Lucy Bell, who is in second year at Firrhil High School, said: “I wanted to design something that helped to get a simple message across about the health benefits of milk and that it was a brand of milk that was udderly delicious and something to be enjoyed! I loved going to the Show for the very first time!”

David Tennant, Head of Royal Highland Show and one of the judges of the competition, said; “A huge congratulations to both of our winners! Their designs really stood out to the judges; Sophie’s for her bright, and colourful design and Lucy’s for being brand that we could imagine on the supermarket shelves. Thank you to them both for joining us on Sunday at the Show. They should both feel very proud for having their designs featured at an event which is steeped in so much heritage and celebrated so widely across the agricultural sector!”

The Royal Highland Show took place at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh from 19th - 22nd June 2025.

Children aged 15 and under attended for free, with the event offering a number of free educational activities and experiential opportunities for children including hands-on workshops at the RHET Discovery Centre where children explored everything from pizza building to cheese tasting and sushi rolling!
