Each piece is handcrafted by Nicky herself in her workshop, where traditional jewellery-making techniques sit alongside modern tools and adapted equipment to bring her designs to life.
Spending time one-to-one in the workshop with her grandfather, who was a jeweller himself, she learned practical skills from an early age. He taught Nicky that jewellery making is often about problem solving - the first attempt at a design can be the hardest, and each piece that follows becomes more refined as new techniques and solutions are developed.
The creative process is central to Nicky’s work, but for her, it is not just about creativity, it is about problem solving. As a piece develops, designs often evolve as new challenges arise, sometimes leading to completely different and unexpected finished pieces. Whether she is creating a one-off bespoke commission or developing a collection, each design involves careful thought about how it will be made as well as how it will look.
Her grandfather’s work, which she describes as modern for its time, continues to influence her style. She is also inspired by Byzantine and modern Greek jewellery, an influence that began through old friends of the family, who would send birthday gifts of Greek jewellery, as well as through her own visits to Greece. This can be seen in her use of patinas, oxidised silver and the contrast between texture and colour, as well as incorporating reflections of Scotland's natural beauty by working with Scottish amethyst, Easdale slate, Skye marble, agates and jasper.

An important aspect of Nicky’s business is working with a trusted network of suppliers, many of whom are female-led businesses based in Scotland and India. Supporting other
women in business is something she is passionate about and is an important part of how she runs her jewellery business.
Visitors to the Royal Highland Show can expect to see a wide variety of pieces from Nicky, including collections inspired by plants such as clematis and hydrangea, as well as statement pieces, bestselling designs and newer work. She also creates gold vermeil pieces, offering the look and feel of gold in a more affordable way. Nicky is always happy to discuss bespoke commissions, and visitors will also be able to see pieces featuring beautiful Scottish stones.
Having visited the Royal Highland Show before, Nicky is particularly looking forward to being part of an event that celebrates genuine craft and making. After trading at various markets over the past year, she is excited to be part of the craft area at the Royal Highland Show.
