Royal Highland Show Bluetongue Policy 2025
We understand the growing concern surrounding the current Bluetongue situation, and want to reassure you, our exhibitors, that RHASS and everyone at the Royal Highland Show is taking a proactive and precautionary approach.
We are closely monitoring the situation and are working in partnership with APHA to ensure the right policies and procedures are in place to prioritise the health and wellbeing of all animals and exhibitors.
As the legislation around movement restrictions is subject to change, we want to be transparent and that current rules may not remain the same by the time of the Show.
To provide clarity and reassurance. RHASS will implement the policy below, which covers eligibility for entry and refund arrangements should the Bluetongue situation evolve.
- Entries will not be accepted from any exhibitor in a restriction zone at the time of entry.
- Any exhibitor who moves into a restriction zone between the time of entry and the Show is therefore unable to attend and will be offered a refund.
- Exhibitors who are unaffected by Bluetongue restrictions will remain subject to our standard terms & conditions, listed in the schedule.
Update 18th May 2025
- Any exhibitor who is required to drive through a Bluetongue restriction zone when travelling to the Show will not be permitted to attend. This decision has been made to protect the health of the livestock that will be in attendance at this year’s Royal Highland Show, and help reduce the risk of the disease spreading. Entries will be cancelled and a refund offered. See the full details of the refund policy below.
- It is not permitted for animals to move south through a restriction zone between 18th of May and their arrival at the Show.
We remain committed to keeping all exhibitors informed and supported. Should Government guidance change, we will continue to work closely with APHA and will communicate any updates as soon as possible.
Refund Policy
The following applies to exhibitors who are currently located within, or impacted by, a Bluetongue restriction.
- Full Refund: A full refund of entry fees is available upon request.
- Alternative Option: Exhibitors may choose to forgo a refund and instead receive their allocation of four-day exhibitor wristbands.
- Voluntary Donation: Exhibitors also have the option to donate their entry fee to RHASS in support of our charitable work.
Refund requests will be processed by Friday, 27 June 2025.
